WHAT IS THE "GUTE FREUNDE FUNDING FUND" ABOUT?

For the first time, the 2025 Supercup carries the name of football legend Franz Beckenbauer, honouring not only his outstanding achievements but also a cause close to his heart: he campaigned through his foundation for people with disabilities. Even after his death, the Franz Beckenbauer-Stiftung continues to support people with disabilities and those who are ill or have fallen into hardship through no fault of their own.

Among other things, the DFL Stiftung specifically supports projects that make it easier for people with disabilities to access sport and physical activity. This is particularly important, as more than half of all people with disabilities do not currently take part in any sport.1

Through this joint commitment, the DFL Stiftung and the Franz Beckenbauer-Stiftung want to provide both quick, uncomplicated support and to fund longer-term approaches, encouraging organisations to introduce or further develop inclusive sport programmes. The goal is to continue expanding the joint initiative over the coming years.

For the inaugural Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, the "Gute Freunde Funding Fund" is financed by an initial donation of €100,000.00 from DFL e.V.
